CONSIDERING THE TIME PERIOD OF MAD MEN:
Concerning Joan's attitude to different characters will range from either being quite sexist (to her own gender) , racist or homophobic. Though it isn't the extreme of ... well, other places during the 60s, it is quite offensive.
